NEW COMIC DAY TOMORROW, OUR PICKS: BATMAN #26 *ZERO YEAR* — For over two years, we’ve raved and ranted every month about how freakin’ good this title has been — with Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo absolutely crushing it on each and every story arc, and folks: that’s not changing anytime soon — BATMAN is still the best DC Comics book on the stands.
Capullo is defining himself as THE Batman artist of this decade, and Snyder’s well-crafted storytelling makes each and every issue a masterpiece.
This week’s issue #26 continues the events of ZERO YEAR, as GOTHAM CITY is thrown into total chaos by the Riddler, and Batman must work alongside a young Jim Gordon to keep everything from falling too far into disarray.
ZERO YEAR has been one of the coolest of the arcs so far, with it’s first chapter kicking off in issue #21, and rolling from there — showing us a crucial look at the very first year of BATMAN working in Gotham City, as well as many of the major events that shaped the Dark Knight, it really is one of the best things to come out of DC in a long time.
Wanna get on board with the Capullo & Snyder stuff? You can either start where ZERO YEAR begins with issue #21, or you can go all the way back to the beginning (which we recommend ’cause of how awesome the whole run has been) with the BATMAN: COURT OF OWLS graphic novel, collecting issues 1-7 of the series into one volume.
From there, we can catch you up with the next two graphic novels, and then all the single issues leading up to this week’s BATMAN #26.
